Red Cross aids 669 patients in Sunday papal events

MANILA, Philippines–The Philippine Red Cross has assisted a total of 669 patients who attended the events at the University of Santo Tomas and the Mass in Luneta Park.

Of the 669 patients, 354  were given blood pressure assistance in Luneta. The patients were experiencing dizziness, some fainted and vomited, while 213 suffered from cuts and bruises.

There are 30 major injuries that include possible fracture, heart attack, hypertension and difficulty of breathing.

Aside from the 30, there were 18 people transferred to hospitals–four were taken to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, one was taken to a field hospital in Intramuros and 13 were taken to an emergency field hospital near the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).

Six were given psychosocial support and tracing.

In UST, there were 12 cases of dizziness and 15 were given blood pressure assistance while one received psychosocial support.
