MANILA, Philippines—Senator Nancy Binay remains confident that with the Lord’s guidance, the country will be healed from “conflicts and differences.”

Binay issued the statement as she joined the people in Kalibo, Aklan in its annual celebration of the “Ati-atihan” in Kalibo, Aklan.

“As we party and cheer wildly with chants of “Hala bira, pwera pasma,” we turn this joyous celebration into one communal expression of devotion to the Child Jesus,” she said in a statement.

“We believe in the Lord’s guidance in forging ahead, with confidence and strength, in our endeavors to help heal our country from conflicts and differences.”

“Our collective faith to the Sto. Niño, through the power of prayer, puts us all into a common spiritual ground to celebrate life,” the senator added.

The Binay family has been at the center of corruption allegations, especially her father, Vice President Jejomar Binay, who has been accused of receiving kickbacks when he was still the mayor of Makati City.

The Vice President has repeatedly denied the allegations.
