Charges against NBI-7 personnel dismissed
THE Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office dismissed criminal charges filed against three personnel of the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7) and five other persons.
Assistant City Prosecutor Liceria Lofranco-Rabillas said there was no probable cause to indict NBI-7 Special Investigator Arnel Pura, investigation staff Xerxes Baladia and Dr. Rene Cam, medico-legal officer, who were charged for robbery, extortion and grave threats.
Also included as respondents were Cebu-based lawyer Mundlyn Misal-Martin and four other women, namely, Joan Uy, Pamela Tallo, Merly Golosino and Juniver Berdin.
The issue stemmed from the complaint filed by engineer Robert Yee who was arrested by the NBI-7 for allegedly raping a 17-year-old nursing student in 2009.
The student and her sister filed rape charges against Yee. The charges were later dismissed by the Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office for lack of probable cause.
