RAFI holds trainors backpacking program
THE Kool Adventure Camp of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) recently conducted a Leave No Trace (LNT) outdoor ethics trainors backpacking program.
Twelve individuals graduated from the program held in the Central Cebu Protected Landscape, which covers barangays Taptap and Tabunan in Cebu City and barangay Magsaysay in Balamban town, southwest Cebu.
They are now certified by LNT Center for Outdoor Ethics and equipped with the proficiency and skills to teach Leave No Trace techniques and ethics to their clients.
This makes a total of 14 LNT trainers in the country who are certified by the LNT Center for Outdoor Ethics.
During the four-day program, the participants learned the seven principles of LNT, including plan ahead and prepare, travel and camp on durable surfaces, dispose of waste properly, leave what you find, minimize campfire impacts, respect wildlife and be considerate of other visitors.
It also taught them low-impact skills and practices in the outdoor community.
