PALO, Leyte, Philippines — Residents of this town couldn’t hide their excitement one night before Pope Francis’ scheduled arrival here.
One of the highlights of the Pope’s trip is a visit to this province, which was ravaged by Super Typhoon “Yolanda” last November 2013.
“Excited na excited na po kami. Kahapon pa po kami naghihintay na dumating ang Pope (We are very excited. We’ve been waiting for the Pope’s arrival since yesterday),” Jessica Caberio, 24, said Friday night.
Francis is set to celebrate the Holy Mass at Tacloban airport on Saturday before proceeding to Palo to have lunch with Yolanda survivors and lead the inauguration of Pope Francis Center.
The leader of the Roman Catholic Church is on a five-day pastoral visit to the Philippines that commenced Thursday.
