‘Pedring’ still affecting western Luzon –Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines—Typhoon “Pedring” continues to move west northwest-ward and is still affecting western Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said early Wednesday.

As of 4:00 a.m., the eye of Typhoon Pedring (international name: Nesat) was located at 300 kilometers northwest of Baguio City.

It had maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.

It was forecast to move west northwest at 19 kph.

Pedring was expected to be at 500 km northwest of Baguio City Wednesday afternoon.

Storm Signal No. 2 remains hoisted over Zambales, La Union and Pangasinan while Signal No. 1 was still up over Bataan, Pampanga, Benguet, Tarlac, Ilocos Sur, Abra and Ilocos Norte.

Pagasa said public storm warning signals elsewhere were now lowered.

Pedring will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring scattered to widespread rains over Southern Luzon and western Visayas, the state-run weather bureau said.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Nalgae, estimated at 1400 km east of northern Luzon, is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility within the next 24 hours.
