/ 03:46 AM September 28, 2011

A cultural presentation titled “Poldet: Panata sa Kalayaan ng mga Detenido Politikal” will be staged on September 30 (3 p.m. and 7 p.m.) at the Lean Alejandro Hall (Vinzons Rooftop), University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.

The show will feature works and performances by current and former political detainees Ericson Acosta, Bonifacio Ilagan, Jess Santiago, Axel Pinpin, Jose F. Lacaba, Alan Jazmines and Joel Lamangan, among others. It is presented by the Free Ericson Acosta Campaign in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and UP Alay Sining.

Acosta, a former Philippine Collegian editor who wrote songs and plays for UP Alay Sining in the 1990s, is being held at the Calbayog subprovincial jail in Samar.

“Poldet” is aimed at raising awareness on cultural and human rights issues in commemoration of the declaration of martial law on Sept. 21, 1972. UP Alay Sining is also marking 17 years of cultural work and activism this month.

Tickets are priced at P50 (regular) and P500 (sponsor). For inquiries, contact Sarah (0921-7417469) or Amae (0917-8137145).
