Lack of space prompts NBI to transfer back 5 convicts to Bilibid

MANILA, Philippines – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has transferred back to the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) the five convicts who were relocated by authorities to the bureau following a raid on the penitentiary last week due to lack of space in the agency’s detention facility.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said she has ordered that the five convicts be placed separately in a disciplinary cell.

“Binalik ulit sila sa NBP kasi hindi na sila kasya [sa NBI] so pinapalagay na lang sila sa separate disciplinary cell,” de Lima told reporters.

Transferred back to Bilibid are the three drug lords, Gianfranco “Gean” Pasco, Engelbert Durano and Noel “Mong” Arnejo, as well as Joselito Valiente and Brando Ramirez. Valiente and Ramirez were arrested after they were found inside the kubols of Pasco and Arnejo.
