KINGSTON, Jamaica — Authorities in Jamaica have seized nearly 1,400 pounds (635 kilograms) of marijuana near the island’s southeast coast.

Police said in a statement Friday that six people in Morant Bay have been arrested.

Officers said they also found 160 gallons (606 liters) of gasoline along with the drugs. Authorities said they believe the marijuana was part of a drugs-for-guns trade in the southeast parish of St. Thomas.

Jamaica is thought to be the Caribbean’s largest producer and exporter of marijuana.
