TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte – Six armed men overpowered two guards of a pawnshop and succeeded in carting away about P5 million in jewelry during a robbery in Panabo City, Davao del Norte, on Wednesday, police said.
Using hammers, the robbers smashed the glass display tables of the Pag-asa Pawnshop in Sto. Niño village after disarming the guards on duty around 2:30 p.m., said Chief Insp. Levitico Estay, Davao del Norte police spokesperson.
“The suspects carted away an estimated P5 million worth of jewelry as well as a 9mm pistol and a shotgun from the guards and fled on two motorcycles,” Estay told the Philippine Daily Inquirer by phone.
Estay said an investigation has been started into the robbery.
