CITY OF CALAPAN—Two offices in the provincial capitol complex, including the provincial tourism office, were razed in a fire late Friday.
FO1 Jansen Badillo, in a phone interview Saturday, said the fire started past 11 p.m. on Friday and was put out an hour later.
Power supply to the offices was quickly cut off after the fire alert was raised, said Badillo.
He said the Provincial Employment and Services Office was also destroyed by the fire. The provincial legal office suffered damage, he said.
Badillo said short circuit, believed caused by Christmas displays in the offices, could have started the fire.
Offices at the capitol complex had been decorated with Christmas lights in a competition with the theme, “Christmas in Wonderland.”
The provincial government gave each local government office a subsidy of P25,000 and each national government office P5,000 to join the tilt.
