/ 12:14 AM January 01, 2015

Today, Jan. 1, is the 123rd birth anniversary of former President Manuel Roxas. Born in 1892, he is the third and last president of the Commonwealth and the first of the Republic of the Philippines. To date, he is the only Filipino leader who has ever served as House Speaker, Senate President and President of the Republic. Roxas died on April 15, 1948, and was interred in the Manila North Cemetery.—Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
