Cement mixer worker found dead

A WORKER who was trapped inside a  cement mixer was found dead  in Mandaue City the other day.

Elpidio Pijagan reportedly entered the central mixer at 3:30 a.m. to clean it as  batching operator Octavio de Luna  was about to start the machine.

Pijagan was  a stay-in worker of Kimwa Construction and Development Corp.

His job was to clean the central mixer  with his son Edgar.

The machine operator didn’t notice  Elpidio  was inside. When he stopped the machine to check it,  he sent Edgar to check.  Edgar  found his dead father inside.

Lapu shooting

A 32-YEAR-OLD carpenter was shot and wounded by his drinking buddy past 8 p.m. Sunday in barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City.

Albert Menguito was brought to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital for treatment.

Police said Menguito and Anecito Anuada, 26, were drinking with friends when Anuada  got into a fisfight.

Menguito  pacified the parties and  advised them to go home.

When Menguito  was on his way home, Anuada allegedly  waylaid him and shot him in the head before running off. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA

Burglars nabbed

POLICE arrested two suspects in the burglary of a  Danish woman’s rented house  in Mandaue City.

The computer laptop of the victim, Nicola Jacobsen, was recovered in Pasil, Cebu City, where it was sold for P5,000 to a resident.

Her other valuables, including silver jewelry, remain missing.

A minor  and Jose Brendell Marquez, 19, are now detained in Centro  police precinct after witnesses identified them.

Another suspect, a minor,  is still  at large.
