16 detainees bolt QC jail–official

quezon city mapMANILA, Philippines–With the help of a saw and a noisy diversion, 16 detainees in Quezon City escaped before dawn Wednesday, QCPD Director Police Senior Superintendent Joel D. Pagdilao said.
Those who escaped and the cases they are facing are Benedict Guinto (violation of City Ordinance 5121 which penalizes possession of deadly weapons), John Sicat (Physical Injury), Roberto Valdez (Robbery/Akyat-Bahay), Roland Araneta (Robberry-Holdup), CJ Nuque (Robberry/Snatching), Rene Flores violation of City Ordinance 5121), Robert Lacaba (Alarm and Scandal), Jeremy Ilena (Violation of PD 1602), Wilmar Morales (Robbery/Akyat-bahay), Emerson Castro (Frustrated Homicide), Miguel Glino violation of City Ordinance 5121), Rigor Alejandrino (Theft/Shoplifting), John Patrick Dionido (Rape and Robbery Holdup), Thomas Evan Labutong (violation of City Ordinance 5121), Alvin Lorenzaga (Estafa) and Dennis Natividad (Violation of City Ordinance 5121).
On the other hand, Superintendent Wilson Delos Santos , QC Police Station 7 Commander in his report said the detainees escaped from their detention facility at around 2:30 a.m., December 31, 2014 while the duty desk officer, Senior Police Officer 1 Jade Gavina went for a personal necessity.
Gavina, based on the report said he heard a noise from the roof of the detention cell. He then went immediately to the perimeter fence along EDSA and saw one of the detainees escaping. After doing a head count, he discovered that 16 of the 53 inmates have escaped.
Aside from the manhunt, Pagdilao said he also directed the District Investigation and Detective Management Division (DIDMD) to conduct immediate investigation and file appropriate administrative and or criminal charges against those personnel involved.
