THE PERSONNEL Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Cebu Inc. will push through with its running event dubbed A Run for a Child’s Brighter Future on Oct. 23 at the Sumilon Road of the Cebu Business Park despite going head-to-head with two other races on the same day.
Sidri Hilario, the chairman for finance of the running event, said they are not aiming to compete with the other races. Instead, they just want to come up with funds to help scholars from the Tulay National High School in Minglanilla town, Southern Cebu. The group also plans to help build comfort rooms for the school and donate goods for the Department of Social Welfare Department (DSWD) home for the girls in Cebu.
“We are here for a cause, not for business,” said PMAP Cebu vice president Jonah Lafuente.
“CITOM approved our permit first and they recommended us to move from last February to October because of the busy schedule of running events in Cebu City.”
The two other races to be held on that day are the Saint Peter Life Run and the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) run.
The PMAP run will feature 3-kilometer, 5k and 12k distances.
The 12k champions will bring home P5,500 while 5k top placers will receive P3,000 each. P2,000 awaits the first placers in the 3k category. Registration fee for 3k and 5k categories is pegged at P250 while P350 is asked for the 12k category. The Sugbo Road Runners Club (SRRC) will handle the technical side of the race.
Registration sites are at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC), RUNNR Ayala Center Cebu and at Toby’s Sports at the SM City Cebu. Interested participants can also register online at www.cebu.jobsdb.com or www.pmapcebu.com. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
