Whirlwind hits Iloilo City damaging 24 houses

Iloilo City, Philippines—Twenty four houses were damaged in Iloilo City, Iloilo in Panay Tuesday morning when a whirlwind swept across parts of the city, authorities said.

No casualties were reported.

The Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Office reported that 18 houses were damaged in Barangay Tabuc Suba, four in Barangay Butatala and two in Barangay Lopez Jaena, all in Jaro District, Iloilo City.

Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has ordered the CSWDO to assist the affected families.

Most of the city has been without electricity since Monday evening after strong winds and heavy rain damaged electric lines.
