Today, Dec. 26, is the 120th birth anniversary of National Artist for Music Antonio Molina. Born in Quiapo, Manila, in 1894, he was acknowledged in his time as the “dean of Filipino composers.” A multiawarded musician, he was twice bestowed the Republic Cultural Heritage Award, in 1965 and 1972. He was conferred the title of national artist in 1973. Molina died on Jan. 29, 1980. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
