Binay hopes worst will soon be over

MANILA, Philippines–Vice President Jejomar Binay is hoping that the worst would soon be over amid the corruption allegations he is facing.

“Well, let’s hope and pray,” Binay told reporters after the courtesy call of the Ambassador of Israel on Monday. “Siguro hindi pa rin titigil ‘yon. Sige pa rin. (Maybe the accusations will just continue.)”

Binay has repeatedly denied accusations of corruption thrown at him, including the alleged overpricing of the Makati City Hall parking building and the Makati Science High School building.

He also denied owning the 350-hectare property in Rosario, Batangas, that was not declared in his statement of assets, liabilities and networth.

Binay said he would find more ways to air his side to the people.

The allegations against Binay affected his survey ratings in recent months. However, he still topped the list of possible leaders to succeed President Benigno Aquino III in a recent poll conducted by the Social Weather Stations from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1.
