PNP seals guns to prevent indiscriminate firing
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted a nationwide sealing of firearms muzzle on Monday to prevent indiscriminate firing during the holiday revelries.
The 150,000 strong police force across the country participated in the gun muzzle taping led by a ceremonial program at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
“The taping of muzzle is part of the PNP’s move to be free from the indiscriminate use of firearms among policemen,” said Chief Superintendent Albert Supapo, acting director of the PNP support service.
Supapo vowed to punish policemen who would not refrain from firing their guns during the holidays.
Deputy Director Leonardo Espina, officer-in-charge of the PNP, earlier said that joint teams of the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) would be deployed nationwide to arrest uniformed personnel and members of law enforcement agencies as well as civilians who will be caught firing their guns
