MANILA, Philippines – Anti-narcotics agents seized on Friday P2-million worth of suspected shabu concealed in the soles of several sandals which were shipped via courier to Butuan City in the Caraga Region.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested Rosello Ampong, 48, of Barangay (village) Imadejas after he claimed the package containing the sandals, which contained 50 packs of shabu (metamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing 250 grams.

Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac, Jr., PDEA director general, said Ampong tried to pick up the package from a courier service shop at Gaisano Mall at about 6 p.m.

“Prior to the operation, a report from a confidential informant said that a package containing shabu was due for delivery using a courier service from San Pedro City, Laguna,” Cacdac said.

The PDEA is verifying the identity of the parcel’s sender.

Cases for violating ‎Sections 5 and 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against Ampong.
