MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or “hanging amihan” in northern Luzon will bring isolated light rains on Friday, the state weather bureau said.

“The regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rains,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, it added.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas.

The low pressure area (LPA) monitored by Pagasa was last observed 1,040 kilometers east of Mindanao.

Panahon TV said the LPA is not likely to intensify into a cyclone. It is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility within 24 hours.
