MANILA, Philippines–Typhoon Ruby (international name: Hagupit) which weakened into a tropical depression on Tuesday has re-intensified into a tropical storm on Wednesday as it moved away from Luzon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Ruby would no longer have any direct effect on the country.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, Pagasa said Ruby was last observed 370 kilometers east of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per kilometer near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move west at 20 kph.
Ruby is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, or amihan, will bring light rains to Northern Luzon.
The regions of Cagayan Valley, the Cordilleras and Ilocos will experience cloudy skies with light rains, Pagasa said.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon, and winds from the northeast will blow over the rest of country stirring up moderate to rough seas.
