MANILA, Philippines – Light to moderate rains are seen in Luzon as Tropical Depression Ruby (international name Hagupit) moved away from the country on Tuesday afternoon.
“Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Calabarzon, Bicol Region and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
The northeast monsoon or “hanging amihan” is prevailing in northern Luzon.
“The regions of Cagayan, Cordillera and Ilocos will experience cloudy skies with light rains. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms,” Pagasa said.
Ruby was last observed 215 kilometers west northwest of Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro. It packed maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and it moved southwest at 13 kph.
Ruby is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday morning.
A cloud formation that could turn into a weather disturbance located east of the Philippines is being monitored by the weather bureau, said Alex Cada of Pagasa.
However, it is still too far from the country, he added.
