MANILA, Philippines–Following his suspension over an allegedly anomalous contract with a courier service, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Alan Purisima will be facing charges anew over his supposed property in Talisay, Batangas province.
Montano Malabanan, who claimed ownership of the property, sought the help of the Volunteers
Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) in filing charges against Purisima for allegedly faking the deed of sale of the 9.5-hectare land.
VACC members and lawyer Jose Teddie del Rosario, representing Malabanan, will lodge the complaint in the Office of the Ombudsman on Tuesday afternoon.
Purisima earlier denied owning the land in Batangas.
According to an exclusive ABS-CBN report, the property, which affords a picturesque view of Taal Volcano, was not declared in Purisima’s statement of assets, liabilities and networth (SALN) from 2007 up to present.
Purisima reportedly acquired the land in Barangay Caloocan in 2007 after its title was transferred to his and retired General Oscarlito Mapalo’s name from a certain Malabanan.
The deed of sale obtained by ABS-CBN indicated that the lot was worth P2 million.
Purisima has ordered an investigation as to how his name was dragged into the controversy.
He also vowed to identify the person, or persons, behind the “scheme.”
