The house helper of actress-singer Agot Isidro (Margarita Sandejas in real life) fell prey to the “Dugo-Dugo” gang in Quezon City on Saturday.

Mainelyn Omapas was tricked into handing over to an unidentified woman P50,000 and $7,000 in cash and around P3 million worth of jewelry belonging to Isidro, according to reports reaching the Quezon City Police District headquarters in Camp Karingal.

The gang operates by calling up housemaids to report that their employers had been in an accident. They would then instruct the helper to look for valuables inside the house and turn these over to a “contact” so that the employer could pay his or her hospital bills.

Omapas told the police that she received a call around 3 p.m. on Saturday from a woman who said that Isidro had figured in an accident.

The caller passed the phone to a woman who pretended to be Isidro. She then instructed Omapas to open the safety vault in the house and bring its contents to a store in Balintawak where the caller’s alleged “secretary” would be waiting.
