Ruby makes landfall in Laiya, Batangas

MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm Ruby has made landfall in Laiya, Batangas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said early Monday evening.

Pagasa said Ruby slammed into Laiya at 5:45 p.m. and it is expected to skirt Manila Bay later in the night.

Although it has weakened to 85 kph, Ruby still dumped rains in Batangas and nearby provinces while traveling west northwest at 13 kph, radio reports said.

“Ruby and the northeast monsoon will cause rough to very rough sea conditions over the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas. Fisherfolk and those using small sea craft are advised not to venture out over the said seaboards,” Pagasa said.
