For over a month, eight-year-old Pian Lee Daniele Bacol was confined in the intensive units of two hospitals. Up to this day, however, doctors do not know what sent her there.

The Grade 3 student of Victorious Montessori School Foundation, in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, was brought to De La Salle Medical Center intensive care unit in Dasmariñas City, Cavite province, when she suffered a seizure three days after she came down with a high fever.

After two weeks in the hospital, her parents Bryan and Josephine Bacol realized that she was not getting any better while her medical bills were piling up. They decided to transfer her to Philippine General Hospital where she stayed for an additional three weeks.

Both hospitals agreed to discharge Pian after her parents issued promissory notes. This was after laboratory results came up negative for any ailment. She was sent home after doctors prescribed medicines for her.

Although Pian’s condition has improved, her parents have been left with the burden of paying off her medical expenses which total P304,000.

Her grandmother, Julieta Bacol, is appealing for help from Inquirer readers because her son, Bryan, Pian’s father, has lost his job due to his frequent absences while she was in the hospital.

Julieta Bacol can be reached at 0918-3976169. For donations, her BPI account is 8369-0821-68.
