MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has suspended the number coding in the National Capital Region, including Makati and Las Piñas cities on Monday, December 8, 2014, in anticipation of the heavy rains and strong winds brought by Typhoon “Ruby” (international name: Hagupit).
“The Number Coding Scheme is LIFTED tomorrow, Dec 8, 2014, in ALL cities and municipality of Metro Manila,” the MMDA posted on its official Facebook account Sunday.
In its official Twitter account, the MMDA said that it would allow cars with registration plates ending in numbers 1 and 2 to traverse Metro Manila.
According to the weather bulletin issued at 5 p.m. by the state weather bureau Pagasa, the National Capital Region has been placed under public storm warning Signal No. 1.
Classes on Monday in all levels in the 14 cities (Parañaque, Pasay, Navotas, Valenzuela, Pasig, Muntinlupa, Quezon, Makati, Marikina, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Las Piñas, Malabon, Manila) and one municipality (Pateros) in NCR have been suspended. Meanwhile, only classes in the preschool to high school levels in Caloocan City have also been suspended.
Typhoon Ruby is expected to be felt in Metro Manila on Monday when the cyclone’s center hovers over Romblon.
Metro Manila is expected to experience heavy to torrential rains due to the typhoon.
