3 die in Iloilo due to Typhoon Ruby
ILOILO CITY, Philippines–Three persons, including a one-year-old girl, reportedly died in Iloilo as Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit) inched closer to Western Visayas.
Ernesto Baylon, 65, was found dead about 8 a.m. Sunday at his house in Barangay Bayas in Estancia town in Iloilo, according to Jerry Bionat, executive officer of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
Bionat said Baylon was believed to have died of hypothermia amid continuous rains in Iloilo and other parts of Western Visayas.
One-year-old Thea Rojo died also believed to be due to hypothermia in Barangay Balanti-an in Balasan town.
Bionat identified the third fatality as Jenelyn Castor, 35, who died Saturday evening due to eclampsia, a complication in pregnancy. Castor evacuated to the house of a relative in Barangay Agbobolo in Ajuy town in Iloilo due to the approaching typhoon.
