Ruby batters Sorsogon

MATNOG, Sorsogon–More than 50,000 families remain in evacuation centers in Sorsogon as Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit) inches closer to the province, the public information office of the Philippine National Police-Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) said Sunday.

It said that 51,495 families or 229,865 people remain in various evacuation centers in the province.

No casualties have been reported yet but all coastal areas are experiencing above normal waves, it said.

Three to five meters of storm surge were experienced in Bulusan town around 8 p.m. on Saturday night, which flattened at least two houses.

The entire province of Sorsogon is still under public storm warning Signal Number 3.
