Another P10K each for Manila cops

After receiving an early Christmas present from the city government last month, members of the Manila Police District (MPD) will receive more perks before the year ends.

Mayor Joseph Estrada said MPD personnel would receive the fourth and final instalment of their “Peace and Order Activity Allowance” before Christmas.

“By Dec. 15, we could give the allowances to the police,” Estrada told reporters earlier this week.

According to City Hall, the allowance is given in recognition of the dangers and risks the police face in their job. Each MPD member will receive P10,000 in the coming instalment covering the last four months of the year. But Estrada again clarified that only policemen with good track records will receive it.

“This is given to the police at the discretion of the local government and the city council, so those scalawags with pending cases against them will not receive the allowances,” he said.

Estrada said the city government is also preparing to release the fourth tranche of salary increases for city government employees before Christmas. Nathaniel R. Melican
