MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan third division on Thursday cautioned both the prosecution and defense panels from making comments on the petition for bail of alleged pork scam brains Janet Lim-Napoles.

This, after lawyer Lani David, one of Napoles’ counsel manifested before the court that prosecutor Jennifer Se asked her before the hearing if they will still continue with the bail hearing since the Sandiganbayan first division already denied Napoles’ similar bail petition.

David said the prosecution was insinuating that the anti-graft court’s third division will follow the decision of the other division.

When asked about it by the court, Se said her remark was just a joke.

Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, third division chairperson, assured that they will look at the evidence.

She said the decision of the other anti-graft court division will have no effect on the case pending before them.

Napoles have three plunder cases pending before three divisions of the Sandiganbayan. She also filed petitions for bail. The first division of the court already denied her petition.
