“We have received reports of a possible active shooter incident. A perimeter has been established and security forces are sweeping the area,” the fighter wing said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.
A release by public affairs office of the 51st Fighter Wing said included in the lockdown were “Osan American High School, Middle School and Elementary School.”
The lockdown was lifted less than an hour later after a security sweep of the schools and the base did not find any “suspicious activity.”
“All clear. The security forces sweeps are now complete, there were no reported injuries or suspicious activity found,” the official Facebook page of the air base said at shortly before noon.
The post added: “Everyone is safe. The lockdown has been lifted, please return to normal operations at this time.”
