MANILA, Philippines– Colonel Restituto F. Padilla Jr. was named Saturday as the new spokesman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Lieutenant Colonel Harold Cabunoc, public affairs chief of the AFP, said Padilla would replace retiring Major General Domingo Tutaan Jr.

AFP Chief of Staff Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. has approved the designation of Padilla, Cabunoc said.

The military official said Padilla would assume his new post on December 4 as spokesman of the 120,000-strong military force.

Padilla, a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Sandiwa” Class of 1985, served as the public information chief of the Philippine Air Force in 2006 and Secretary of Air Staff in 2007.
