Earlier, the Metro Manila Development Authority announced that road works would not be allowed in the three weeks before Christmas in anticipation of a traffic buildup as people flock to malls and other shopping centers in the metropolis.

DPWH insiders, however, expressed confidence the agency would “still be allowed to do more road re-blocking activities next week.”

The MMDA plans to designate alternate routes pending clarification from the DPWH on the completion of several NCR road projects.
