High school row seen in student’s slay in Makati
MANILA, Philippines—A misunderstanding dating back to high school resulted in the killing of a freshman computer student inside a bar in Makati City on Tuesday night.
Emmanuel Dorado of ABE International Business College on Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati City, suffered a stab wound in the chest and was pronounced dead on arrival at Makati Medical Center.
A police report said that his attackers—Tristan Venavidez and an alias Niko—were identified as Centro Escolar University students only by the uniforms they were wearing. They immediately escaped after the stabbing.
According to investigators, the victim was drinking with his friends at Hard Hat Resto Bar in Barangay San Antonio Village around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday when the suspects confronted him.
A heated argument broke out and one of the suspects later pulled out a knife and stabbed Dorado in the chest, according to his friends.
The police report said that they were looking into a long-running rivalry between the victim and the suspects dating back to when they were all in high school as the motive for the killing.
