PNP vows to catch those behind Metro bomb hoaxes
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has assured the public that it will identify and charge those responsible for recent bomb hoaxes in Metro Manila.
PNP made the assurance on Tuesday after a threat of an explosion prompted the evacuation of students at the Rizal High School in Pasig City on Tuesday, but the “bomb” threat turned out to be a false alarm.
“Continued monitoring and investigation are being done by our intelligence units to identify those persons responsible (for these threats),” said the PNP spokesperson, Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor.
Mayor urged the public to report to the PNP information on the identities of those spreading bomb hoaxes by calling the PNP hotline, 117, or texting 09178475757.
In the case of the bomb threat at the Rizal High School in Pasig City on Tuesday morning, students were evacuated, after which bomb technicians found what appeared to be a cell phone and dynamite made out of crepe paper.
On Monday morning, an abandoned suitcase containing various tools caused a bomb scare at the corner of Paseo de Roxas and Makati Avenues in Makati City.
