MANILA, Philippines—Police recovered nine cars allegedly stolen by two suspects in a rent-a-car business in a raid in Parañaque City Tuesday night.

Chief Superintendent Henry Rañola, Southern Police District director, on Wednesday said the operation was carried out after two complainants reported that they saw the vehicles parked in a vacant lot in Multinational Village in Barangay Moonwalk.

Remia Bulaclac, 61, businesswoman from Las Piñas City, and Denver Torio, 34, sales employee from Parañaque City, were among the eight victims who filed a complaint against brothers Russel and Romulo Dolor Pacia Jr., residents of No. 3 Chapel Road in Sun Valley Subdivision, Barangay 195.

The suspects, who were still at large, allegedly convinced their victims to turn over the vehicles to them by promising to pay a bigger monthly amortization. They said they would use the vehicles for their rent-a-car business.

Police said the complainants initially received payments in the first two months.

When the brothers failed to make further payments, “the complainants demanded the return of the cars, but they disappeared together with the vehicles,” Rañola said.

The confiscated vehicles are the following:

  1. Nissan Somera with conduction sticker KD 2937
  2. Nissan Somera with conduction sticker KD 2455
  3. Toyota Vios with plate number ALY 128
  4. Toyota Innova with plate number WEO 410
  5. Kia Picanto with conduction sticker EE 2575
  6. Toyota Vios with plate number AAJ 5698
  7. Nissan Somera with conduction sticker KB 2077
  8. Toyota Vios with conduction sticker YD 6954
  9. Nissan Somera with conduction sticker KD 2468

The vehicles were brought to the Parañaque police anticarnapping unit for further investigation and verification.

The complainants filed carnapping and estafa charges against the Pacia brothers.
