MANILA, Philippines–Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. is back in jail after a series of medical tests he underwent overnight at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City.

At 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, Revilla and his wife Cavite Representative Lani Mercado arrived at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center escorted by several police vehicles and an ambulance from the PNP General Hospital.

Revilla left St. Luke’s at 12:10 p.m. as the Sandiganbayan allowed the detained senator ‎for an overnight hospital trip from 6 p.m. on Monday until 12 p.m. on Tuesday only.

Chief Superintendent Albert Supapo, PNP Headquarters Support Service chief, said Revilla’s security included personnel from the Custodial Center Security Unit of the HSS and PNP Highway Patrol Group.

Last week, the Sandiganbayan First Division granted Revilla’s request to undergo medical tests at St. Luke’s after he had complained of migraine and colds and coughs for one week.

The tests included magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance angiogram of the brain, plain lumbosacral MRI, cardiac work-up, electrocardiography and 2D-Echo, stress test, and blood chemistry.

The senator has been diagnosed to be suffering from migraine headache, hypertension, lumbosacral radiculopathy secondary to spondylosis, or osteoarthritis of the joints, and dyslipidemia, or the condition of having abnormal lipids in the blood.
‎Revilla, along with co-accused Senators Jinggoy Estrada and ‎Juan Ponce Enrile, has been charged with graft and plunder for their alleged involvement in the P10-billion pork barrel scam.
