Fire in China food plant kills at least 18

china mapBEIJING – Chinese state media reported that at least 18 people have died after a fire broke out in a carrot-packaging plant in eastern China.

The official Xinhua News Agency said that 13 people were also injured in the Sunday night fire in the Longyuan Food Co. facility in the city of Shouguang.

Xinhua said the fire was put out after about 2 ½ hours, and that the cause is still under investigation.
