More rain in store for Luzon, metro area

The weather bureau has alerted residents in some parts of Luzon to possible flashfloods and landslides triggered by rains.

Fishing boats and other small vessels were also advised against venturing out to the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon because of strong to gale force winds.

Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecasters said the Cordillera Administrative Region as well as the provinces of Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms.

According to forecaster Meno Mendoza, the tail-end of the cold front is affecting Central and Southern Luzon bringing rain to the areas. Metro Manila woke up to a wet Saturday morning because of rainclouds brought by the tail-end of a cold front.

In Pagasa’s forecast for Sunday, Metro Manila, the Ilocos region, most parts of Calabarzon and Central Luzon, as well as the provinces of Cagayan, Marinduque, Camarines and Catanduanes will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.

The rest of the Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with light rains while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

While moderate to strong winds will prevail over Luzon with moderate to rough seas, winds will be light to moderate and sea conditions slight to moderate elsewhere.
