MANILA, Philippines–The body of a woman believed to be dead for about a week now was found in a suitcase abandoned at the corner of Fermina Street corner Jacobo in Barangay Poblacion, Makati City, early Friday morning.
Poblacion resident Virginia Flores told police that she spotted the suitcase as she was taking a walk, and immediately notified the village watchman, Angelito Villar, about her find.
Makati Police Sub-Station 6 commander Chief Insp. Carlo Caceres said footage taken by a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera from a shop nearby showed two women alighting from a cab and dragging a suitcase that they dumped on a street corner around 4 a.m.
The police officer said the women casually walked away from the scene after leaving the bag behind.
Caceres said that when Villar opened the suitcase, he found the decomposing body wrapped in plastic and covered with a bed sheet.
No response
Police investigators noted that they found a baggage tag with a name and a telephone number on it, but did not get any answer when they tried to call the number.
Caceres said they are checking the CCTV footage of the incident to determine the identity of the two women who dumped the body.
He added that they are yet to determine the victim’s identity as well as the motive behind the killing.
