MANILA, Philippines—Expect heavier traffic on some major thoroughfares as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) resumes its three-day road reblocking works starting Friday.
Motorist were advised to change routes as reblocking and repairs continue on some roads in Quezon City and Pasig City starting 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said in its latest advisory.
The MMDA said the DPWH, through its National Capital Region head Director Reynaldo Tagudando, recommended repairs on the following roads:
SOUTHBOUND:
- Third lane of Commonwealth Avenue (residential vulcanizing to Commonwealth Apartelle)
- Second lane of Fairview Avenue from Camaro Street to Peacock Street
- Fourth lane of Mindanao Avenue from Tullahan Bridge III to Sabila Street
- Third lane from sidewalk of E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue and C-5 between Eastwood Avenue and Green Meadows Avenue
- First lane of Quirino Highway from Teacher’s Bliss to Camachile Street
- Outermost southbound lane and northbound innermost lane of C-5 road
NORTHBOUND:
- Third lane of Araneta Avenue from Quezon Avenue to Maria Clara Street
- Second and fourth lane of C.P. Garcia Avenue from University Avenue to Maginhawa Street
EASTBOUND:
- Second lane of Batasan Road from San Mateo Road to Filinvest II
- Second lane of Congressional Avenue from EDSA to Hereford Street
- Second lane of Congressional Avenue Extension
“However, MMDA urged Tagudando to closely monitor their contractors who always work beyond their approved schedules so as not to cause unnecessary public inconvenience,” the advisory added.
On Thursday, MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino imposed a moratorium on road works and street diggings starting the first week of December to ease traffic on the upcoming holidays.
