Quarantined peacekeeper develops fever, to undergo tests‎–DOH

Filipino peacekeepers from Ebola-hit Liberia finally home

MANILA, Philippines — A Filipino peacekeeper quarantined at Caballo Island developed a fever, the Department of Health said Friday.

The unidentified peacekeeper will be brought to a hospital for further tests, a radio report said.

But the DOH clarified that the country remained ebola free and the peacekeeper has not displayed other symptoms of the deadly virus.

The report said that the peacekeeper’s fever could be a recurring case of malaria which he previously had.

The 133 peacekeepers from Liberia arrived on Wednesday and were immediately brought to Caballo island near Corregidor for a three-week quarantine.

The ebola virus has killed up to almost 5,000 in West Africa.
