MANILA, Philippines—The office of Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano claimed receiving a death threat on Wednesday from an unidentified caller.
“At 5 p.m today (Nov. 12) somebody called the Office of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano (via trunkline). The call was received by an office staff. The Caller said: ‘Paki sabi kay Senator Alan, isang bala lang siya pag di sya nanahimik (Tell Senator Alan, it takes only one bullet to silence him,” said a statement from Cayetano’s office.
“The incident was properly reported to the Senate Office of Sgt. Arms and the Senate police,” it added.
The alleged death threat came amid the ongoing investigation of the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee into the allegedly anomalous construction of the Makati City Hall 2 parking building involving Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Cayetano, a member of the subcommittee, was among those actively participating in the Senate probe against Binay.
