MANILA, Philippines–Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Friday weighed in on the reason for Vice President Jejomar Binay’s continued snub of the Senate investigation into the allegations hurled at him.

“VP Binay is just taking everybody for a ride,” Trillanes said in a text message.

“Our demeanor is not really his main concern. His problem is the bitter truth,” he said.

“VP Binay is not coming, period. Everything else is just media play,” Trillanes added.

The senator made the remarks in reaction to Binay’s reported statement that he would not attend the Senate investigation into the Makati City Hall 2 parking building and other irregularities he allegedly committed when he was still the mayor of Makati City.

Binay had repeatedly turned down the Senate’s invitation, saying that he would rather talk to the people than the senators who have already prejudged him.
