Barangay council man shot dead in Maguindanao
PARANG, Maguindanao – Unidentified men shot dead a member of a village council in Parang, Maguindanao, on Tuesday and fled with the victim’s motorcycle, police said Wednesday.
Senior Insp. Gani Miro, Parang police chief, said Wilson Mayola, 43, councilor of Barangay Making, was heading home around 8 a.m. after driving his wife to the Molina Memorial Elementary School where she teaches when gunmen flagged him down in Barangay Town Site.
He was shot twice in the head and body, after which the assailants fled on his motorcycle.
Miro said that while robbery was an apparent motive, the police were also looking at personal grudge as a possible motive.
Miro said the police were hot on the trail of two suspects, who had been identified, but he declined to identify them pending their arrest.
