MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon “Paeng” (Nuri) is expected to exit the country on Tuesday evening, the weather bureau said on Monday.

Paeng was last observed 1,135 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Elvie Enriquez of Pagasa said the typhoon was not expected to make landfall and its effects would not be felt in the country.

Paeng packed maximum sustained winds of 205 kph near the center and gusts of up to 240 kph. It was forecast to move north northeast at 13 kph, Pagasa said.

The northeast monsoon, meanwhile, continued to affect Northern Luzon.

“Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms,” Pagasa said in its morning bulletin.

Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos region will experience partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough, Pagasa also said.

Light to moderate winds coming from the northeast to north will prevail over the rest of Visayas and coming from the northwest to southwest over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas, it added.
