4-magnitude quake jolts Ilocos Norte

MANILA, Philippines – A 4.0 magnitude quake hit Ilocos Norte on Sunday evening but no aftershocks were expected, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The tectonic tremor was recorded at 9:51 p.m., with 15 kilometers northwest of Laoag City as its epicenter, Phivolcs said.

Intensity II was felt in the town of Paoay in the same province.

“Felt by few individuals at rest indoors. Hanging objects swing slightly. Still water in containers oscillates noticeably,” Phivolcs described of an Intensity II quake.

No immediate damage was also expected from the earthquake.
