New way to mark ‘Undas’

heritage 2MANILA, Philippines— Celebrating All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day need not be boring.

A memorial park in Taguig City has come to life as it hosted activities that one would not normally find in a memorial park.

The Heritage Park, the country’s premier memorial park, hosted a “Memorial Day Weekend” for Filipino families, visitors and guests who were treated with fun-filled activities as they pay tribute to their dearly departed.

The activities dubbed as “Celebrate Life” kicked off last October 31 with activities that includes balloon sculpting and caricature games, trick or treats for costumed kids, an outdoor film festival among others.

A 35- stall Food Hall which offered a variety of food and delicacies also satisfied the palate of families and visitors.

Last November 1, a Holy Mass and a blessing of the grounds were celebrated as part of a solemn Filipino tradition.

Families and visitors continued to enjoy the day in a relaxing environment while watching films offered by the memorial park.

Thinking out of the box, the event was spearheaded by PhilPlans, one of the leading financial services company in the country providing innovative memorial and life plans.

“We wanted to give Filipino families a venue to remember their loved ones and at the same time, make lasting memories with those who are still around. We believe that as Filipinos, we consider our families to be our wealth and we want to provide ways to strengthen this bond. “Celebration of Life” allow us to cherish those we hold dear, and think ahead for the future,” said PhilPlans Vice President for Marketing, Carlo Rieza.

Rieza said they plan to conduct the event annually to provide venue for families to create lasting memories.
